Wet hire of a full earthmoving fleet for bulk earthworks on a new residential estate development in Centurion. Phehlwana Group supplied TLBs, excavators, tipper trucks, and a water cart with experienced operators for the duration of the earthworks phase.
Equipment Supplied
The following plant was supplied on a wet hire basis for this project:
- 2× TLB (Tractor Loader Backhoe) - bulk excavation, trench digging for services, and material loading
- 1× 20-tonne tracked excavator - bulk cut and fill earthworks
- 3× tipper trucks - spoil removal and imported fill material delivery
- 1× water cart - dust suppression across the 14-hectare site
All equipment was operated by Phehlwana Group’s own operators, who were inducted onto the site and worked under the developer’s principal contractor.
Project Details
The earthworks phase involved:
- Bulk cut and fill to achieve design platform levels across the full site
- Excavation of stormwater retention ponds and drainage channels
- Trenching for water, sewer, and electrical services reticulation
- Compaction of fill layers to geotechnical specification
- Dust suppression throughout to comply with the site’s environmental management plan
Delivery and Logistics
Equipment was mobilised to site within 48 hours of contract award. Phehlwana Group managed all equipment maintenance, operator welfare, and daily pre-use inspections throughout the hire period. The earthworks phase was completed two days ahead of the developer’s programme, allowing the civil contractor to commence services installation on schedule.
